“The Arch of Hope”

This metal over wood buck sculpture is intended to invoke a sense of hope. The sloping arch is intended to symbolize the span of a day from sunrise to sunset. Each day starts with high hopes that a new day brings. The downward represents the challenges and struggles we all encounter throughout a day, month, year or lifetime. The upward arch is the renewal that a new day brings. Hope restored.

“The Choice”

This metal sculpture represent our collective choice between the promise and dreams that the future bring as represented by the rocket ship. The anchor is to technology and innovation represent progress and hope. By contrast the bomb represents the opposite choice of destruction and despair. A thin yellow line (not visible in the photo) forms a band around the cubes indicating the narrow margin between these two choices. The suspended cube in the middle indicates the balancing act is always at play.

“Bending of Nature”

This sculpture made of hemlock represents human kinds use of the nature world for its benefit. The bend shape represents the shaping of the land, water and forest for food and shelter. A thin metal band (not visible on the photos) represents the attempt to control the natural world. It is inadequate and futile. The golden wood indicating the positive bounty of the bending of nature to our will. The dark stripe reminds us of our ability to poison and ravage nature.
